Dry, Damaged or Color-treated Hair

Dry hair is the most vulnerable hair type because the hair shaft is less protected by sebum, making it susceptible to moisture loss and therefore liable to become brittle and dull-looking.

Hair that has been damaged by repeated use of overhot styling equipment, perming, or color treatments and lighteners also tends to be extra-dry hair. Colored and permed hair is especially porous and so takes longer to dry, which can lead to problems if you regularly use a hairdryer.

Shine-enhancing shampoo and conditioner that contain vegetable proteins are essential because they will help to rebuild the damaged areas of the hair shaft. Shea butter replenishes moisture, while essential oils such as lemon, verbena, orange and cypress will stimulate blood circulation to the scalp and so increase the flow of nutrients to the roots. Color-treated hair is in need of specially formulated shampoo and conditioner to keep the color fresh for longer.
